Well, we were feeling pretty good around here for June and July, escaping last years 100+ degree temperatures. Unfortunately our luck didn't last and August is giving last summer a run for the money! We start early and end late around here and the horses seem to be dealing with the heat very well. The riding horses get to spend the days in their nice big stalls under the fans.
In July, I rode both Waren and Gran Casso with Christian Bachinger of the Spanish Riding School. We have a very busy fall coming up and the boys have been in pretty heavy training. Waren continues to gain strength that he will need for his big move to Prix St. Georges next year! He is already qualified for the Region 9 Championships & SWDC at training level and we will also be putting together a freestyle for him for next year at 4th level. Gran Casso will move up to first level at the San Antonio show in a few weeks and the goal is to try to get him qualified for Region 9 Championships/SWDC at first level in addition to his previous training level qualifications. On August 25, he will be presented to the ISR/OLD for approval.
